Crock Pot Barbecue Chicken Sandwiches

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken breasts
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup blackstrap molasses
  • 4 tbsp sucanat or sugar of choice
  • 2 tsp mustard powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp cumin
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • hamburger buns

Instructions

  • Place the tomato sauce, tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, molasses, mustard powder, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, cumin, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Whisk together to combine.
  • Place the chicken breasts in the bottom of the crock pot. Pour the BBQ sauce over the chicken. Place lid on crock pot.
  • Cook on high for 2-3 hours or on low for 6-7 hours.
  • Once the chicken is cooked, use two forks to shred the chicken.
  • Stir to evenly coat with BBQ sauce.
  • Serve on hamburger buns.
